July 2: Test scores and course grades are not yet determined (it will probably take until the end of this holiday weekend); they will be posted on the following web page: Test and Course Grades. Thank you for your patience. Enjoy the rest of the summer!
June 24: You may bring a 4x6 index card with personal notes to Test 3 tomorrow.
June 23: No quiz tomorrow! There is a typo in Wiley PLUS "Chapter 9, Review, Question 48": read "rational function" instead of "polynomial" (polynomials do not have asymptotes).
June 11: For further review material, you can go to the section "Read, Study & Practice" in Wiley PLUS: the resources for Chapter 3 include a Student Study Guide that includes Practice Problems with answers.
Here are two tutorials on exponents (ignor the reference to exercises at the last pages, since these refer to another textbook; the files require the password listed in the footnote on page 3 of the handout of June 9):

Wiley PLUS Homework assignment HW13 due on Tuesday, June 15, is on Exponents (see Tools for Chapter 3 in the textbook); there will be a quiz on this material (Quiz 9) on Wednesday, June 16.
June 3: Wiley PLUS assignments HW1 through HW6 are available for viewing with assistance (hints, answers, solutions). In addition to the review problems included in Wiley PLUS HW7, you should go over these earlier assignments. It is also recommended that you study the quizzes. Also, section 1.6 is included in this test.
June 2: The test on Friday will cover through section 2.5. HW 7 due tomorrow morning is on section 2.5, part of section 2.6 (which we will continue tomorrow), and review problems for the test on Friday. Points for this assignment have been set at 1.5pts per question; this will be reduced by 30% after tomorrow's 9:00am deadline. At reduced points this homework assignment can be completed or corrected upto 1 day after its due date.
May 28: NO class on Monday, May 31. There will be no quiz on Tuesday, June 1. HW 5 will be due at 9am on June 1 for point values 50% larger than those indicated in the assignment, with no assistance and limited tries. Following class of June 1 you will be able to complete and correct this assignment, but at the indicated points (and not the increased point values).
May 27: There will be a quiz tomorrow covering sections 1.4 and 1.5. To prepare for the quiz you should go back to homework assignment 3 and redo the questions you did not answer correctly. The deadline on this assignment has been extended to allow and encourage you to make changes.
In addition to HW4 posted on Wiley PLUS, do the following homework: From section 1.6 of the textbook (pages 48-49): problems 3 and 7, and complete the example(s) from today's handout.
May 26: There will be a quiz tomorrow covering sections 1.1, 1.2, and 1.3. To prepare for the quiz you should go back to homework assignments 1 and 2 and redo the questions you did not answer correctly. The deadlines on these assignments have been extended and the number of tries for the questions has been increased from the earlier value to allow and encourage you to make changes.
