Activities

Missoula Math Circle is an enrichment program for high school students. The year-long activities begin with Math Day on Oct 2, 2010. We are funded by a grant from the MAA Dolciani Foundation. See our web site for more information.
Undergraduate Research in Matroid Theory: I am working with 4 undergraduates on several projects in matroid theory. We are funded by a grant from CURM.
PNW Project NExT is a faculty development program for new faculty in the Pacific Northwest. We meet each spring/summer prior to the annual PNW MAA meeting. Our next meeting is in Juneau in June, 2011. See the web site for more information.
What is a matroid? Theory and Applications, from the Ground Up is the title of the MAA Short Course at the joint meetings in January, 2011. The course is intended to be an introduction to the field of matroid theory; I am speaking on cryptomorphisms! See the web site for more information.

M 195: Discrete Mathematics for HS students, June 13 – June 25. This course is offered through the Schwanke Institute. We will answer such questions as: Why does a full house beat a flush in poker?, What is the best way to visit all the cities in Montana? and How many ways can the cubes of Instant Insanity(tm) be stacked?
M 526: Discrete Mathematics for Teachers, June 14 – July 16. This is an on-line course for HS teachers. Here is a course description.
